Responsibilities
- Assist with the development of new products and improvements to existing products.
- Create, review, and update engineering drawings for new and existing products.
- Assist with developing product dimensions, tolerances, material requirements, and other technical specifications.
- Support the creation and maintenance of product specifications and engineering documentation.
- Assist with prototype development, testing, evaluation, and documentation.
- Work with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Operations to determine whether product designs can be manufactured safely, consistently, and efficiently.
- Assist engineers with the design, planning, and budgeting of engineering projects.
- Participate in design reviews and provide input based on manufacturing observations and collected data.
- Assist with researching materials, components, manufacturing methods, and industry standards as required for product development projects.
- Create and modify 2D drawings and 3D CAD models, preferably using SolidWorks.
- Work directly with manufacturing personnel to understand current production methods and challenges.
- Provide engineering support for day-to-day manufacturing and production issues.
- Use data and observations to help distinguish between equipment, material, tooling, operator, and process-related issues.
- Assist with reviewing and developing product cost information.
- Gather information related to raw materials, labor, machine time, production rates, scrap, packaging, and other manufacturing costs.
- Perform time studies or process observations when needed to support costing activities.
- Assist with comparing estimated product costs to actual manufacturing conditions.
- Organize and analyze production and costing data using Microsoft Excel or similar tools.
