About the role

The Product Development Engineer at Ricoh Electronics, Inc. (REI) will play a crucial role in driving research and development projects that support the full lifecycle of thermal media products. This includes designing and developing new and improved products, conducting patent reviews, executing laboratory experiments, sourcing and evaluating raw materials, optimizing manufacturing processes, and providing on-site technical support.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop new and improved products by researching materials, optimizing processes and developing formulations to meet customer requirements and support market needs.
  • Conduct patent reviews to support product and formulation development.
  • Design and execute laboratory experiments to evaluate products, materials and formulations.
  • Research, source and evaluate raw materials for product development, product improvement and cost-reduction projects.
  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for product development and innovation.
  • Lead pilot-scale and production-scale trials, analyze process data and establish process specifications.
  • Investigate production and customer application issues related to product formulation and product design, identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Analyze data and communicate findings to internal and external stakeholders through presentations and technical reports.
  • Establish and manage paperwork such as Bill of Materials, product specifications, etc.
  • Provide on-site technical support during new product launches to ensure successful implementation and identify application or performance issues.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, candidates should have a strong background in materials science, chemical engineering, or a related field. Experience with thermal media products, process development, and laboratory experimentation is preferred. Strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are essential.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in materials science, chemical engineering, or a related field is required. A Master's degree or relevant professional experience may be considered as an alternative.

Skills

Proficiency in laboratory equipment operation, statistical analysis, and project management tools is beneficial. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment are also important.

Pay

Salary range: $80,000 - $120,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

Full-time position, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
