Product Development Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a Product Development Engineer to join our Professional Volunteer Success Team. This role involves advancing new product development of innovative solutions to address global issues through our educational and action-focused initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Understand the end use of products and determine their fitness-for-use based on materials
• Advance the specification development of new and derivative products
• Work hands-on with prototype generation, material evaluation, and experimental design and execution
• Drive the development and refinement of new test methods and characterization techniques in collaboration with other functions
• Identify critical uncertainties, design targeted experiments, enable new prototype builds, define and assess fitness-for-use, and drive commercialization and scale-up
• Understand and evaluate the performance of relevant competitive product alternatives

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering field with at least 3 years of experience in process, product, or new product/materials development post-graduation
• Solid knowledge of engineering fundamentals and ability to apply this knowledge to product development and technical challenges
• Demonstrated ability to document, communicate, and present technical work
• Demonstrated ability to interact and influence cross-functional teams, as well as work independently in a changing environment
• Demonstrated ability to incorporate creativity in technical problem-solving and critical thinking
• Demonstrated ability to work hands-on in all aspects of project work, including developing prototypes and/or test methods
• Understanding of Materials Engineering and Programming is a plus
