Product Development Engineer

Primary Responsibilities

• Develop and create customized sensor solutions
• Work with our sales team and customers to define cost-effective sensors for our marketplace
• Work with manufacturing team to develop production processes and test protocols
• Identify and validate materials appropriate for specific applications
• Generate concept designs, cost estimates, and performance specifications
• Support the ISO 9000 quality system as appropriate
• Actively contribute during department meetings and project-specific meetings including customer interaction
• Travel to customer and manufacturing plant locations when necessary

Professional Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in mechanical engineering, master’s degree preferred
• Minimum of 5 to 10 years’ experience in mechanical design
• Experience with project management a plus
• Interest in business aspects of projects
• Excellent communication skills, strong presentation skills
• Excellent knowledge of stress analysis and finite software
• Demonstrated working knowledge of FEA software preferably (Creo5)

Personal Skills

• Demonstrated ability to use the PC, including MS Word, Excel, Windows, and SAP
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills, including team-based problem resolutions
• Effective interpersonal skills, ability to function as a team member and address conflict constructively
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Physical Demands

• Daily telephone/computer usage
• Repetitive motion

Compensation

The pay range for this position is $90,000 to $115,000 annually plus 10% bonus.
