Product Development Engineer

About the Role

Leads the planning process of new products and/or improvements to existing products, focusing on project concerns such as cost, completion dates, resource allocation, quality/reliability, budget allocation, and more.

Responsibilities

• Run multiple high-profile projects simultaneously, including assigned accounts and additional projects from smaller customers as needed.
• Provide technical leadership to various engineering projects and coordinate across all disciplines, giving work direction and inputs to business functional groups.
• Resolve complex technical issues through leadership and collaboration.
• Develop and implement resource plans to ensure proper resource allocation for successful project completion.
• Manage both internal and external customers effectively.
• Interpret SPC and quality data to make informed decisions on project direction.
• Lead teams of individuals who do not directly report to you.
• Understand and apply knowledge of EBM, ISBM, IBM, and IM technologies.
• Develop and manage project budgets, operating within budgets of approximately $50K-$1M.
• Develop, track, and meet capital and expense budgets for assigned responsibilities.
• Adapt to changing workplace needs and work cross-functionally to improve processes and employee engagement.
• Monitor and maintain a clear understanding of project needs, hurdles, and workload.
• Make decisions based on financial measures and strategies while understanding Amcor’s broader business strategy and competitive position.
• Create and teach clear policies, professional standards, and engineering/design principles to address variable situations.
• Anticipate customer needs and drive product opportunities.
• Influence commercial decisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field; packaging discipline preferred.
• 8 or more years of experience working with injection and blow molding equipment, tooling, and processing.
• Deep technical knowledge in the industry and understanding of industry trends and their application to customers.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proficiency in computer skills, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and MS Project; CAD background is a plus.
• Plastic processing experience is a plus.
• Tooling build experience is a plus.
• Willingness to travel up to 50%.
