About the role
We're looking for a Product Development & Buying Senior Manager to help shape the future of the Crunchyroll Store. This role blends buying, merchandising, and product development, with a focus on softlines, accessories, and collectibles rooted in anime fandom. Reporting into the VP of eCommerce, you'll identify emerging trends, build compelling assortments, make buy decisions, and manage products from concept through launch.
We're looking for someone with strong product instincts and a pulse on fashion, collectibles, gaming, entertainment, and youth culture—anime expertise is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Own the product lifecycle across softlines, accessories, and collectibles, from concept and assortment planning through launch and optimization
- Translate anime, youth, pop culture, fashion, gaming, and consumer trends into compelling products and assortments
- Make buy, pricing, and inventory decisions that balance demand, margin, and category growth
- Partner with vendors and licensors across product development, costing, sampling, approvals, production, quality, and delivery
- Drive cross-functional execution with Design, Creative, Marketing, Planning, Finance, Legal, Licensing, and Operations
- Monitor sales, margin, inventory, sell-through, and fan feedback to inform future buys and product decisions
- Champion premium product quality, packaging, and brand standards while protecting the integrity of licensed IP
- Identify new vendors, collaborations, categories, and product opportunities that keep Crunchyroll relevant to fans and culture
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in buying and product development, across softlines, accessories, collectibles, or licensed consumer products
- Strong pulse on youth and pop culture trends, including fashion, collectibles, gaming, and entertainment; anime knowledge is a plus
- Experience building assortments and making buy, pricing, margin, and inventory decisions
- Proven track record developing products from concept through production and launch, working directly with vendors and manufacturers
- Strong product and commercial instincts, with an eye for quality, design, value, and consumer appeal
- Experience with licensed products or IP-driven brands and working cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
We are considering applicants available to work a hybrid schedule in our Los Angeles office.
