Product Designer- San Francisco HQ
About the role
As designer at Orb, you’ll drive the end-to-end design process, from early discovery research through to implementation. You’ll own solutioning and vision setting for Orb’s revenue reporting and invoicing products in partnership with your team.
Responsibilities
- Lead user research sessions—including discovery interviews, contextual inquiries, and usability tests—to deeply understand user workflows, uncover pain points, and validate solutions through prototype feedback
- Rapidly iterate on solutions through low- and high-fidelity prototypes, using each round to de-risk assumptions and sharpen the problem definition
- Partner with engineers and product managers from day zero to shape the direction of new initiatives, balancing user needs, technical constraints, and business goals
- Frame ambiguous problems into clear design opportunities, defining success criteria alongside product and engineering partners
- Participate in design critique—soliciting feedback early, offering thoughtful critique to peers, and raising the quality bar across the team
- Partner closely with engineers throughout implementation to ensure the shipped experience matches design intent, and make pragmatic trade-offs when it doesn't
- Contribute to and evolve the design system alongside other designers—proposing new patterns, refining existing components, and championing consistency across surfaces
- Communicate design decisions clearly to cross-functional stakeholders, grounding recommendations in user research, data, and craft principles
- Own the end-to-end quality of your work, from initial research through post-launch measurement and iteration
