Product Designer I
About the role
As a Product Designer I, you will collaborate with the Inspire Brands User Experience Research & Design team and other stakeholders, contributing through both individual and team efforts. The team designs web and app experiences for our brands, focusing on creating e-commerce experiences that are simple, usable, and desirable for users. Our culture empowers designers to tackle a range of product design challenges, leveraging feedback from over 100 million customers to transform the digital restaurant experience. This role will help shape next-generation experiences for our portfolio of brands and evolve our unified design system.
Designers at Inspire Brands translate business goals into digital experiences in collaboration with Brand, Product Management, Engineering, and Performance Analytics teams. The role offers high individual responsibility, significant impact, and substantial rewards. The UX Research & Design team operates in an agile environment as part of multi-disciplinary scrum teams to design and develop prioritized features from our product roadmap. This position requires onsite work 4 days per week, typically Monday through Thursday.
Responsibilities
- Design System Engineering: Bridge the Figma multi-brand design system and the Engineering design system for consumption by humans and AI tools to facilitate prototype and code-generated screen designs.
- Experimentation Mindset: Identify opportunities to test hypotheses and support testing with different design options to collect user feedback.
- Generating Early Design Concepts: Sketch, wireframe, and prototype product experiments. Collaborate with engineers to investigate concept feasibility.
- Continuous Iteration and Refinement: Advocate for and initiate product iteration to improve shipped work. Evaluate new insights and iterate rapidly.
- Team Involvement and Participation: Collaborate with the rest of the UX team through critiques, design jams, group learning, and contributing to the design system.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Minimum: 4-year degree in Design, Computer Science, Software Design, Digital Media, Social Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Preferred: Master’s degree in User Experience (UX) Design, Computational Media, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Psychology, Service Design, Design Management, or related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum: 1+ years of UX design experience, including multi-brand design system engineering experience.
- 1+ years of experience in UX design and Product design, which may also include product thinking, e-commerce design, interaction design, information architecture, design research.
Skills
- 1+ years of experience in UX design and Product design, including multi-brand design system engineering, product thinking, e-commerce design, interaction design, information architecture, mobile-first web and app responsive design, and design research.
- Ability to solve complex design problems at the charter/capability level (e.g., overall shopping experience).
- Strong project management skills: able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, self-directed, organized, and efficient.
- Cross-functional collaboration: frequently contributes in meetings and may drive sections or topics (usually internal meetings).
- Process improvement: consistently works within established processes and identifies/contributes improvements.
- Meeting facilitation: facilitates individuals and small groups with minimal oversight; can plan and execute interviews/meetings as part of a group.
- Presentation: presents own ideas and work to small-to-mid size audiences (team and department level).
- User advocacy: understands, documents, and communicates customer needs while balancing business requirements.
- Business acumen: understands business needs and thoughtfully balances them with customer needs; contributes to industry and competitive knowledge.
- Defends design recommendations and delivers results in an agile, iterative design environment.
- Proficient in modern UX design tools like Figma.
- Nice to have: Experience with user research, usability testing, accessible design, design systems, or big screen design (including kiosk and in-store displays).
