About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Product Designer I to join our team and shape the future of design at Allocate. This leadership-track role combines project ownership, cross-functional influence, and early-stage people management. As a Lead Product Designer, you will oversee end-to-end design initiatives, collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders, and ensure the delivery of intuitive, high-quality user experiences that align with Allocate’s strategic vision. You will be instrumental in raising the design standards, fostering a collaborative environment, and mentoring junior designers.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in product design with increasing responsibility
- Proven track record of leading full-cycle design projects from discovery to delivery
- Strong proficiency in building interactive prototypes using Figma, Magic Patterns, and other tools
- Experience with AI-assisted design tools such as Claude and Cursor is a plus
- Deep understanding of design systems, component libraries, and scalable interface architecture
- Excellent collaboration skills with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders
- Strong communication and storytelling abilities for both small and large audiences
- Experience mentoring or managing junior designers, even informally
- Familiarity with fintech or private markets is highly desirable
- Curiosity about complex financial topics and eagerness to learn fund structures, deal flow, and portfolio reporting
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end design process for initiatives, including research, UX, UI, prototyping, and handoff
- Create interactive prototypes to validate ideas, align stakeholders, and mitigate engineering risks
- Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to define problems and craft solutions
- Develop a strong understanding of private markets and client workflows to inform design decisions
- Leverage AI tools thoughtfully to streamline research, exploration, and prototyping phases
- Identify opportunities to enhance usability, performance, and consistency at system and user levels
- Improve team workflows through the development of design systems, tooling, and processes
- Mentor junior designers through feedback, reviews, and coaching sessions
- Support recruiting efforts and assume responsibilities as a hiring manager for junior design roles
- Communicate design rationale effectively, emphasizing user value and business impact
