Product Designer
About the role
Luma is dedicated to creating unified general intelligence capable of interacting with the physical world. Our focus is on developing multimodal foundation models that enhance understanding and interaction through vision. This role requires a hands-on generalist with a strong design perspective, open to full-time or contract-to-hire positions.
Responsibilities
- Own features end-to-end, leading the design process from concept to implementation.
- Create functional prototypes using AI coding tools like Cursor or Claude Code.
- Collaborate with engineers, product, and AI researchers to develop innovative interactions and prototypes.
- Ship high-quality visual designs, interactions, and prototypes that meet a high standard of craftsmanship.
- Drive work forward in ambiguous environments, making decisions with incomplete information and pushing projects to completion.
- Work collaboratively across teams to ensure the design vision is realized and meets quality standards.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building scalable and innovative products.
- Adept in both craft and product thinking, with a strong portfolio showcasing both visual and interaction design.
- Deep integration of AI into design processes, able to articulate how AI influences outcomes.
- Experience building functional prototypes using AI coding tools.
- Portfolio demonstrating production-ready work, including the full design process from concept to implementation.
- Ability to articulate design choices, iterations, and the impact of the work.
- Comfortable moving quickly and converging on solutions, balancing craft with speed.
- Track record of driving projects forward and influencing team-wide quality improvements.
Qualifications
- Exceptional taste and a strong, opinionated design perspective.
- Open to full-time or contract-to-hire positions based on mutual fit and team needs.
- Experience working in a hybrid environment, with the option to work remotely three days a week.
- Relocation assistance available for candidates outside the Bay Area.
Skills
- Strong understanding of AI and its applications in design.
- Proficiency in AI coding tools like Cursor or Claude Code.
- Experience with complex creative software, such as video or photo editors.
- Expertise in fluid, delightful micro-interactions and complex state transitions.
