About the Role
As a Design Lead for Data Cloud, you will be responsible for designing the end-to-end Data Cloud experience, focusing on how customers interact with operational data generated by Rippling. This includes creating custom reports, dashboards, and visualizations, ensuring that data is accessible, queryable, and integrated with Rippling's underlying data graph.
Responsibilities
- Own the Data Cloud experience from custom reports and dashboards through semantic models, query interfaces, and warehouse integrations.
- Design how customers move from plain-language questions to validated answers grounded in Rippling's data.
- Build primitives that make complex data more approachable, including visualizations, filtering, drill-downs, schema explorers, and permissions for sensitive data.
- Design for two audiences: business users seeking quick, reliable insights and data teams requiring pipelines, models, and parity with their warehouse.
- Use LLMs to accelerate the design process, clarify problem spaces, generate requirements, and test designs before deployment.
- Prototype using AI-assisted tools to explore data flows and validate solutions with real interactions.
- Share patterns, tooling discoveries, and AI workflows across the design organization to improve overall quality.
Requirements
- A portfolio of high-impact products delivered from concept through launch, ideally including analytics, BI, query builders, or other data-heavy surfaces.
- Comfort with the language of data, including schemas, joins, aggregations, semantic layers, and warehouses.
- Active use of LLMs in your design workflow, such as Claude or ChatGPT, for research, requirements, copy, or exploration.
- Experience with AI-assisted prototyping tools like Cursor or Claude Code, even if not writing production code.
- A strong eye for both interaction and visual design, capable of making dense information feel calm and legible.
- Exceptional communication skills, able to explain abstract concepts clearly and guide cross-functional partners through difficult decisions.
