Product Design Engineer
About the role
This fast-paced job is a mix of CAD (computer-aided design) work and manufacturing support. Primary responsibilities include creating and maintaining 3D models and drawings for bearing components and assemblies to support Aerospace manufacturing. The role also provides vital input on product manufacturability and feedback on ever-improving manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain 3D models and drawings for bearing components and assemblies to support Aerospace manufacturing.
- Provide vital input on product manufacturability and feedback on manufacturing processes.
- Interpret customer technical requirements and translate them into an SKF offering, including proposal and 1st tier drawings for all product platforms.
- Evaluate technical risks, verify product selection, and analyze product field service and revision history.
- Support the manufacturing organization when issues arise.
- Perform modeling and drafting tasks supporting both new product introductions (NPI) and changes/improvements to existing products.
- Maintain standards and work instructions for drawing layouts, CAD best practices, and manufacturing processes.
- Perform static and dynamic analysis using SKF proprietary software.
Requirements
- Minimum Education/Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology preferred).
- Experience with commercial CAD and PLM software – PTC and/or Siemens preferred.
- US Citizenship is required.
- Strong understanding of GD&T.
- Must be able to work as an individual as well as in a team environment, including leading small projects.
Qualifications
- Calculation experience involving statics and dynamics (plus).
- Strong problem-solving skills (plus).
- Experience with ABMA standards (plus).
- Ability to quickly learn new software programs (plus).
- Knowledge of a variety of programming languages (C++, Python, Visual Basic) (plus).
