About the role
Join Molex, a leader in innovative solutions for communication, experience enhancement, and engagement. As a Product Design Engineer, you'll design, model, analyze, and characterize high-speed connectors, cables, and systems for data storage and telecommunications markets.
Responsibilities
- Design and validate new interconnect products, including high-speed connectors, cable assemblies, and miscellaneous mechanical hardware for datacom and telecom applications.
- Collaborate with the manufacturing, signal integrity, and quality assurance teams to develop cost-effective and high-performance designs.
- Create and present detailed requirements to internal teams and customers to support the development of new products.
- Support product launches and travel to manufacturing sites to collaborate with global teams.
- Lead the organization in identifying, evaluating, and implementing new technologies and methodologies to enhance product development processes.
- Work with marketing and external customers to identify new project opportunities and strategize on overall design.
- Provide application and technical support to consolidate inputs from various stakeholders into product concepts and detailed requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of experience in Product Design Engineering
- Experience with welding, stamping, plating, plastic injection molding, and connector/cable harness assembly
- Knowledge in developing engineering documentation, including DFMEAs
- Working knowledge in Data Analysis, preferably using Excel, Minitab, and Power BI
- Proficiency in CAD, preferably in NX and Team Center
Qualifications
- Six Sigma training/certification
- Experience designing high-speed interfaces, cable, and board mount connectors
- Twinax termination, PCB surface mount, and compression technologies
- High-density board termination rework process
- DVP testing experience
