Product Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Product Design Engineer to join a New Product Development team focused on residential attic and crawlspace ventilation products. This hands-on role combines 3D design, prototyping, testing, and close collaboration with manufacturing teams to bring products from concept to high-volume production.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine passive and powered ventilation products, including ridge vents, roof jacks, and turbine ventilators.
• Create 3D models and production drawings for stamped aluminum and steel components.
• Design injection-molded parts, including internal components and exterior features.
• Work with process engineers and plant-floor teams to resolve manufacturing issues involving tolerances, tooling draft, material shrinkage, and mold gating.
• Build prototypes and evaluate airflow, weather resistance, and structural integrity through simulation and physical testing.
• Document technical specifications and support submissions for applicable building codes and high-wind requirements, including Miami-Dade High-Velocity Hurricane Zone standards.
• Improve existing products for performance, manufacturability, and reliable assembly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
• Proficiency with 3D parametric CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks.
• Experience designing for sheet metal stamping and forming, as well as plastic injection molding.
• Strong understanding of drafting standards, tolerances, and design for manufacturability.
• Ability to work closely with manufacturing teams and use test results to refine designs.
