About the role
The Product Design Engineer will join an engineering team working on next generation modules for vehicles. Responsibilities include designing high-speed digital circuits, validating circuit implementations, analyzing and resolving hardware failures, and meeting Ford’s quality, on-time, and cost targets.
Responsibilities
- Design High Speed digital circuits to meet section requirements.
- Design circuits using industry standard schematic capture tools.
- Layout implementation of responsible subsection Design complex high-speed signals that meet impedance requirements.
- Perform worst case analysis of circuits in area of responsibility.
- Generate documentation that defines processor pin assignments.
- Develop detailed design documents.
- Perform failure mode analysis and generate process documentation.
- Define stress test routines required to validate functional sections.
- Design communication links between the processor, other internal subsections and external modules Formulate test plans to ensure component level performance.
- Validate testing to ensure performance over temperature and voltage extremes.
- Handle Root cause and resolve issues in assigned sections.
- Participate in system design reviews.
- Interface closely with other teams such as Software, Mechanical, Manufacturing teams and with external component suppliers.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
- 1+ years of basic knowledge of Hardware and Embedded Software systems.
- 1+ years of knowledge on microprocessors, solid state memory, cameras, displays and sensors.
- 1+ years of working knowledge of industry standard interfaces (e.g. LVDS, DDR, PCI, I2C and Ethernet, etc.).
Qualifications
- Excellent hardware and software debugging skills.
- Familiar with test equipment (e.g. oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, temperature chambers, time-domain reflectometers, precision power meters, etc.).
- Motivated and self-starter.
- Strong collaboration and leadership skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with business users and engineering professionals (e.g. globally distributed teams, ability to adjust communications appropriately for the audience, work with all levels of management and diverse work groups, etc.).
Skills

Pay
This position is a salary grade 5 and ranges from $68,300-$114,800. Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
Schedule
This position is hybrid. Candidates who are in commuting distance to a Ford hub location may be required to be onsite four or more days per week.
