About the role

ECHO is seeking a Product Compliance Specialist who will join our Engineering team to ensure our ECHO products are compliant with all relevant standards. This role involves reviewing, understanding, and applying the applicable industry, national, international, safety, design, and environmental standards for our products.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert, advising internal teams and external partners on regulatory requirements and product safety standards.
  • Own end‑to‑end product compliance for ECHO products sold globally, including identifying applicable requirements, guiding internal stakeholders, evaluating product compliance, coordinating third‑party certifications, and managing post‑certification activities.
  • Participate in product design and construction reviews, providing compliance‑focused input to ensure alignment with applicable standards and regulations.
  • Review and interpret test results against relevant standards and determine product acceptability.
  • Collaborate with Test Engineers and Technicians to troubleshoot test methods, parameters, and results related to product standards.
  • Communicate compliance status, risks, and requirements clearly to cross‑functional project teams.
  • Review, advise on, and provide feedback for technical documentation, product markings, and labeling to ensure regulatory accuracy.
  • Represent the organization on industry and regulatory committees, contributing to the development of evolving safety standards (e.g., UL, CSA, IEC, ISO) and regulations (e.g., UN, FCC, DOE, CEC).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is preferred. Equivalent experience can substitute for degree.

Skills and experience

  • Experience managing product safety and regulatory compliance activities is preferred, particularly within outdoor power equipment, lithium‑ion batteries, and/or consumer products.
  • Demonstrated experience obtaining product certifications or declarations of conformity (e.g., UL, CSA, or similar bodies).
  • Highly self‑motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and the Windows operating environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical information.

Pay and schedule

  • Salary range: $80,000-$110,000 based on experience and qualifications.
  • This is an on-site position at our Lake Zurich facility.
