Product Assurance Manager (Space Hardware/Mechanics)
About the role
We are hiring a Product Assurance Manager for a pioneering space hardware manufacturer near Munich. This company builds massive, deployable reflector and antenna systems for high-stakes European space missions. The role requires a Product Assurance Manager with 10+ years of experience specifically in the European space hardware industry, focusing on mechanical space hardware, extreme space environments, and structures.
Responsibilities
- Define, implement, and upgrade PA/QA processes to strict ECSS/ESA and ISO 9001 standards for real flight projects.
- Direct and mentor a dedicated PA/QA project team, setting objectives and monitoring performance.
- Collaborate directly with Project Managers and Systems Engineers to integrate FMEA, RAMS, and quality assurance into the hardware's lifecycle.
- Track KPIs, non-conformities, and the cost of quality, delivering monthly, unfiltered status reports directly to the CEO.
Requirements
- 10+ Years in Space PA: Dedicated experience specifically within the European space hardware industry.
- Mechanical Mastery: Proven track record with mechanical space hardware, extreme space environments, and structures (not just electronics).
- ECSS & RAMS Authority: Deep knowledge and practical implementation of ESA/ECSS standards, alongside hands-on FMEA and RAMS expertise.
- Academic Foundation: A Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering (or directly equivalent).
- C1 English fluency (German is a strong plus).
- Ability to work predominantly on-site in the Munich area (Eching-Dietersheim).
Qualifications
This role demands a veteran of mechanical space hardware. Standard aviation experience is not sufficient. Candidates must demonstrate deep, practical, hands-on experience applying ECSS standards to complex space structures, antennas, or deployables.
Skills
- Strategic Planning and Execution
- Team Leadership and Mentorship
- Project Management
- Quality Assurance and Compliance
- Technical Writing and Reporting
