About the role
Veoneer Safety Systems is seeking a Product Assurance Engineer to join our team in Southfield, MI. This role involves understanding OEM specifications and requirements for product validation, analyzing product functions, developing test sequences and limits, designing validation plans, and performing various types of testing.
Responsibilities
- Understand OEM specification and requirements for product validation
- Analyze product functions and develop test sequences and test limits to assure each is function is assessed during testing
- Design and develop product validation plans (EMC, Environmental and others as required)
- Review the validation plan with internal (Product Engineering) and external customer (OEM), get approvals
- Develop requirements for test equipment, get quotes and source supplier for test equipment
- Receive test equipment, validate and perform necessary Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (GR&R) tests to check equipment measurements before DV (Design Validation) or PV (Process Validation) testing
- Schedule internal and external lab for planned DV/PV tests
- Learn to operate various lab equipment, including thermal chambers, and computer controlled automated testers
- Setup and perform testing using various lab equipment and thermal chambers with assistance from technicians
- Check/Verify that setup is correct based on the test plan and corresponding customer requirements prior to each test
- Perform pre-test checks as needed
- Track and report progress throughout the DV
- Analyze test data throughout testing to catch issues as soon as possible during test
- Debug, analyze and report failures that occur during the DV
- Support product engineering for any root cause analysis (8D, Fish Bone etc.)
- Archive test data, report and parts as mandated by internal and external requirements
- Release final DVP&R or PVP&R for customer approval
- Learn basic understanding of the RC&S ECU architecture, validation requirements and domain specific tools
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in EE, ME or equivalent desirable
- 3-5 years’ work experience in Automotive electronics validation such as Hardware and system level validation
- Strong problem solving and debugging skills with a solid understanding of core product validation principles, and analytical techniques
- Strong communication skills required, including the ability to clearly express technical concepts in verbal and written forms
- Good team player
- In depth understanding of validation methodology for Automotive
Qualifications
- Experience with communication protocols and tools such as CANalyzer, CANoe, and LIN
- Awareness of IPC standards and PCB manufacturing
- Awareness of ISO/IEC 17025:2005
- Awareness of IATF 16949
