About the role
WFAA in Dallas, TX is seeking an experienced, energetic News Producer to join a major market team. If you like to produce fast-paced, creative newscasts, we want to hear from you. You must love where our business is headed and be aggressive at participating on all platforms. We’re looking for a quick learner who can be flexible with their schedule as needed.
Responsibilities
- Encourage innovation and risk-taking in crafting great newscasts through evoking emotion and showcasing.
- Write and edit news stories for on-air broadcasting and digital platforms.
- Have a good understanding of streaming and social media platforms to incorporate into newscasts.
- Work collaboratively with other producers and staff members.
- Use creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of media (viewer pictures, webcam interviews, etc.) to enhance stories.
- Perform other tasks as required by supervisor or executive producer.
Requirements
- BA/BS in journalism, communications, or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience preferred.
- Experience in photojournalism, editing, and content management systems.
- Understanding the tenets of professional journalism.
Skills
- Skills in producing engaging, content-driven newscasts and digital content.
- Knowledge of ENPS and Axis graphics a plus.
- Organizational skills and the ability to work under constant time pressure deadlines.
- Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events.
Work Environment
Office: normally performed in a typical interior/office environment.
Physical Demands
Sedentary work: Involves sitting most of the time; walking, lifting, bending, standing, etc.
Travel
Rarely: less than 10%.
