About the role
The associate is responsible for maintaining a well-stocked and appealing produce department while providing excellent customer service. This role may also involve assisting in other departments and tasks as needed.
Responsibilities
- Keep produce department well stocked and appealing to meet customer demands.
- Greet customers, answer questions, handle special requests (e.g., fruit baskets), and resolve concerns promptly and professionally.
- Unpack cartons and crates, clean and trim produce, and stock merchandise.
- Rotate stock to ensure freshness and maintain saleable condition of products.
- Ensure proper pricing and signage for all merchandise.
- Maintain salad bar and cut fruit/vegetables as needed.
- Build attractive displays and accurately complete product logs.
- Handle spoiled, damaged, new, and discontinued items according to company policy.
- Maintain general sanitation in the department, following cleaning schedules and health/OSHA requirements.
- Dispose of trash properly and assist in minimizing shrink and controlling damages.
- Report shortages and overages to the manager.
- Assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, and storing deliveries (training provided).
- Assist with baling cardboard or related duties if properly trained.
- Cooperate with co-workers and superiors to ensure smooth department and store operations.
- Continuously improve job performance and utilize all provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including cut-resistant gloves, safety cutters, and company-sponsored footwear.
- May assist in other departments as needed.
Requirements
- Completed or working toward a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- No prior experience required.
Pay
Hourly pay for this position starts at $15.00 per hour, up to $22.00 per hour.
