Produce Production Team Member (Fruit and Vegetable Cutter) - Full Time

Responsibilities

  • Perform all functions related to processing (preparation) and merchandising in the produce department.
  • Cut fruits and vegetables, following all safety and sanitation rules.
  • Ensure product meets WFM guidelines for quality and preparation.
  • Maintain the sampling program.
  • Clean the department continuously and maintain sweep logs.
  • Arrive to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed, and ready to work; work all scheduled shifts and attend required trainings and meetings.
  • Provide excellent customer service, address needs of customers in a timely and effective manner, and model suggestive selling techniques; answer phones and pages promptly and courteously.
  • Maximize sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product.
  • Follow and comply with, or ensure compliance with, established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment; maintain equipment in accordance with WFM cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned; ensure accuracy of signs and pricing.
  • Immediately report safety hazards and violations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership.

  • Ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and Team Members at all times.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with team and store Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Be prepared and able to perform the duties inherent in other Team Member job descriptions.
  • Support WFM core values and goals, promote national, regional, and store programs and initiatives, and ensure adherence to all applicable health and safety regulations, including Food Safety and regulatory duties required in the department.

  • Understands spoilage and supply waste and how it affects department profits.
  • Working knowledge and application of all merchandising expectations within the department.

Experience

No prior retail experience required.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • In an 8-hour work day: standing/walking 6–8 hours.
  • Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.
  • Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
  • Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals.
  • Exposure to temperatures: below 32°F (freezing), 32–40°F (refrigerators), and above 90°F.
  • Ability to work in wet and dry conditions.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to use tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
  • May require use of ladders.

Pay

The wage range for this position is $15.00–$24.40 hourly, commensurate with experience.
