Responsibilities
- Implement all company and division policies to achieve maximum sales and profits in the produce departments.
- Demonstrate the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
- Develop maximum customer relations by produce department personnel through personal example of friendliness and courtesy, and implementation of all company policies.
- Assist in store security and handle customer complaints.
- Make recommendations regarding the hiring, firing, disciplining, demoting, transferring, and evaluating of all produce department personnel.
- Provide proper indoctrination, training, and knowledge for all department employees, including reading scales, pricing, and customer courtesy.
- Supervise all aspects of salad bar operations.
- Discuss with the store manager the most efficient and practical working schedules for full and part-time employees.
- Maintain a personable, clean, and neat appearance of departmental personnel, ensuring proper uniforms and identification.
- Maintain good communication with all store personnel.
- Plan, organize, direct, and control the activities of the produce department; may take charge of store operations in the absence of the store manager.
- Direct the receiving, storing, pricing, and merchandising of all produce products.
- Ensure adequate stock and supplies by proper ordering to maintain optimal inventory levels.
- Maintain and submit required records and reports effectively.
- Maintain cleanliness in all areas, including cases, floors, cooler, preparation area, and waste disposal.
- Keep adequate supplies on hand, such as bags, pricing, and marking equipment.
- Continuously analyze all aspects of the produce department and make recommendations for improvements to the store manager.
- Promote, communicate, and implement company initiatives and process improvements positively.
- Be prompt, tactful, calm, courteous, and professional in all interactions.
- Demonstrate an aptitude for managing people and organizing workloads.
- Perform all duties as assigned by the store manager and/or supervisor.
- Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Manage conflict in a reasonable, non-confrontational, and cooperative manner.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
- Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults.

Requirements
- Willing to be flexible and work mornings, afternoons, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as the work demands.
- Understanding of all key components of department operations, including managing people, merchandising, computer-assisted ordering, inventory management, shrink control, customer service, labor scheduling, and expense control.
- Working knowledge of produce preparation and general knowledge of store operations.
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees, customers, and supervision.
- Ability to react quickly to constantly changing priorities and demands.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to make intelligent decisions quickly and handle stressful situations calmly and tactfully.
- Skills for effective production, merchandising, and customer service related to the sale of merchandise.
Qualifications
- Produce work experience or similar experience in food preparation (desired).
- Past work record reflecting dependability and integrity (desired).
