PRODUCE/DEPT LEADER

About the role

Implement all company and division policies to achieve maximum sales and profits in the produce departments. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Responsibilities

• Work mornings, afternoons, evenings, nights as the work demands.
• Be flexible to work weekends and holidays as needed.
• Understand and apply all key components of department operations (Managing people, merchandising, computer assisted ordering, inventory management, shrink control, customer services, labor scheduling, expense control, etc.).
• Communicate effectively with employees, customers, and supervision.
• Make intelligent decisions quickly and handle stressful situations calmly.
• Handle customer complaints and make recommendations regarding the hiring, firing, disciplining, demoting, transferring, and evaluating all produce department personnel.
• Maintain a clean and organized appearance and ensure proper uniformity and identification of departmental personnel.
• Maintain effective communication with all store personnel and plan, organize, direct, and control the activities of the produce department.
• Manage the receiving, storing, pricing, and merchandising of all produce products.
• Assure adequate stock and supplies by proper ordering and maintain department inventories at optimum levels.
• Ensure proper disposal of waste and maintain good housekeeping in all areas.
• Analyze and make changes to produce department aspects such as space allocation, design, display, price marking, rotation, inventories, personnel, etc.
• Support and assist through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults.
• Perform all duties as assigned by the store manager and/or supervisor.

Requirements

• Produce work experience or similar experience in food preparation.
• Past work record reflecting dependability and integrity.
• Ability to work cooperatively in high-paced and sometimes stressful environments.
• Aptitude to manage people and organize workloads.
• Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary.
• Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, non-confrontational, and cooperative manner.

Qualifications

• Desired produce work experience or similar experience in food preparation.
