PRODUCE/DEPT LEADER

About the role

Implement all company and division policies to achieve maximum sales and profits in the produce departments. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Responsibilities

• Work mornings, afternoons, evenings, nights as the work demands.
• Be flexible to work weekends and holidays as needed.
• Understand and apply all key components of department operations (Managing people, merchandising, computer assisted ordering, inventory management, shrink control, customer services, labor scheduling, expense control, etc.).
• Communicate effectively with employees, customers, and supervision.
• Make intelligent decisions quickly and handle stressful situations calmly.
• Develop maximum customer relations through personal example of friendliness and courtesy, and implementing all company policies.
• Assist in store security and handle customer complaints.
• Recommend hiring, firing, disciplining, demoting, transferring, and evaluating all produce department personnel.
• Maintain proper hygiene and cleanliness of the department, ensuring adequate supplies are on hand.
• Analyze and make changes to produce department operations as needed, promoting company initiatives and process improvements.
• Manage workload and staff schedules for maximum efficiency.
• Ensure proper handling of waste and maintain good communication with all store personnel.
• Perform all duties as assigned by the store manager and/or supervisor.

• Produce work experience or similar experience in food preparation.
• Past work record reflecting dependability and integrity.
• Ability to work in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• Able to manage conflict in a reasonable, non-confrontational, and cooperative manner.
• Aptitude to manage people and organize workloads.
