Produce Clerk Full Time

About the role

Sorts, displays, removes, and replenishes fresh fruits and vegetables in the produce department. Maintains the overall environment of the department by providing assistance to Members through product knowledge and customer service. Ensures that all produce meets or exceeds company quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist Members in the produce department by answering questions, recommending products, and providing safe‑handling tips.
• Inspect, rotate, and store produce upon delivery, ensuring all received items meet company standards.
• Rotate produce on the sales floor to maintain optimal freshness and variety.
• Keep cases and display areas fully stocked; maintain neat and clean produce displays.
• Remove products that are no longer suitable for sale and maintain the produce reserve stock area.
• Date and rotate all back‑stock items; keep the storage area organized and condensed daily.
• Follow guidelines for disposing of damaged, spoiled, or expired products.
• Assist the Fresh Manager with inventory and order processing as needed.
• Clean and sanitize all produce equipment, display fixtures, and areas, including coolers and refrigerated cases.
• Generate signage for produce goods and perform price‑check functions; ensure all items are accurately priced and signed.
• Maintain all club policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including working in other departments as needed.
• Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.

Qualifications

• Work experience in a produce department preferred.
• Knowledge of fruit and vegetables preferred, including seasonal items.
• At least 18 years of age.

Work Environment

Frequent movement on hard surfaces, bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping. Lifting objects up to 30 lb regularly; occasional lifting of heavier or awkward items with assistance. Indoor environment with exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and coolers.

Pay

Estimated compensation range: $17.25 – $20.70 per hour (actual salary may vary based on location, education, experience, and qualifications).
