Produce Clerk

About the role

Collaborating with a team to deliver the finest produce presentation, working in the most popular department, teaching and showing customers the benefits of fresh produce, and delivering an extraordinary customer service experience are just some of the challenges you'll tackle as a Produce Clerk at Sprouts Farmers Market.

Responsibilities

• Stock the Produce department, including presentation of product, facing, filling, and organization of all product items as set by the Produce Department schematics and ensuring tag and pricing accuracy.
• Ensure proper stocking and rotation of merchandise in the Produce Department, including trimming, watering, and merchandising of products to ensure fresh, high quality offerings.
• Ensure proper inventory control to maximize product freshness and availability, and answer questions from customers in a friendly and helpful manner.
• Perform tasks such as using a knife (other than safety cutters), operating a ladder, operating garbage or cardboard compactor, operating motor/electronically powered equipment, working in coolers or freezers, lifting, stacking, and maneuvering heavy objects, standing, walking, bending, climbing, and multi-tasking throughout the work day.

Qualifications

• At least 16 years of age.
• Dependable and reliable with the ability to work flexible schedules that may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Show mutual respect for others and maintain a high-level code of ethics within Sprouts culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Have a positive attitude and the ability to interact with customers.
• Have good communication skills and the ability to take direction and participate in a team environment.
• Be able to perform repetitive activities, multi-task, prioritize, and stay organized.
• Be able to stand, walk, bend, climb throughout the entire work day and lift, stack, and maneuver heavy objects weighing up to 50 lbs., from 4” to 72”, for a distance up to 3 feet for between 10-50 hours without mechanical assistance.
• Be able to walk up to 5 miles in an 8 hour shift.
• Able to adhere to all safety, health, OSHA, and Weights and Measures regulations.
• Be able to perform other related duties as assigned.

Skills

Knowledge of fresh produce handling, preparation, and merchandising is essential. Good communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are also required.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $18.20 - $24.55 / hour. Sprouts Farmers Market determines pay based on applicable experience and qualifications of the applicant.

Schedule

Flexible schedules that may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
