PRODUCE CLERK

About the role

Company Produce Clerks create an exceptional customer service experience by ensuring produce areas are properly stocked and providing assistance to customers to locate items.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with a primary emphasis on fast, friendly, and accurate service.
• Culling displays to ensure only the fresh and quality product is available.
• Ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures and all regulations.
• Ensuring sections are rotated 100% and fresh products are readily available.
• Ensuring that receiving, preparation, conditioning, and displaying of merchandise is done in accordance with company standards.
• Minimizing shrinkage through proper handling of products.
• Processing and packaging of produce.
• Providing assistance to co-workers.
• Transferring stock from coolers and freezers to department shelves.
• Unloading of delivery trucks.
• Ensure all product date coding is accurate and within parameters.
• Properly cleaning equipment and tools utilized.
• Stacking, rotating and date coding coolers.
• Complying with safety and health standards to ensure safe handling of food.
• Identifying, correcting, and reporting unsafe conditions that could cause accidents.
• Performing additional duties as required.

Qualifications

• Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with others.
• Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
• Strong communication skills with both customers and coworkers.
• Ability to operate general office equipment.
• Knowledge of and experience complying with equipment, safety principles, practices, procedures and strategies to promote effective operations for the protection of people and property.
• Knowledge of and ability to operate equipment necessary to perform the duties of the position.
• Ability to work flexible schedules through the day, evening, and weekend shifts.

Education

• High School Diploma or GED preferred

Physical requirements

• This position requires lifting and carrying of objects up to 50 pounds with frequent walking and standing.
• The position frequently kneels, stoops, reaches, pushes, pulls, and carries medium to heavy items.
• Work is performed indoors and outdoors therefore subject to weather and climate conditions.
