About the role

The Binghamton University Libraries invite applications for a two-year Postdoctoral Fellow as the Postdoctoral Associate through SUNY's Promoting Recruitment, Opportunity, Diversity, Inclusion and Growth plus (PRODiG+) program to begin in Fall 2027.

Responsibilities

• Explore how information generated through library services, collections, digital environments, and user interactions can be transformed into actionable knowledge that improves organizational performance, enhances user experiences, and demonstrates the impact of research libraries.
• Investigate emerging approaches to information analytics, assessment methodologies, user behavior, data visualization, and organizational learning while developing sustainable frameworks and workflows that strengthen library services, inform strategic planning, and support organizational decision making.
• Design scalable methods for collecting, analyzing, visualizing, and communicating organizational data to demonstrate institutional progress and impact.
• Contribute to the educational mission of the Libraries by designing and leading an undergraduate research internship program focused on information analytics, assessment, user experience, and evidence-informed decision making.
• Establish an undergraduate research internship program that engages students in applied projects focused on information analytics, assessment, and user experience.
• Develop and teach a two-course undergraduate sequence introducing students to assessment methodologies, information behavior, user experience research, information analytics, data visualization, and the communication of evidence for organizational planning and decision making.

Requirements

• Be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship.
• Master's degree from an ALA-accredited library or information science program or an ALA-approved foreign equivalent; Related Doctoral degree from an accredited institution completed prior to start date.
• Demonstrate personal, academic, and/or work experience engaging with diversity, equity, and inclusion and/or a commitment to facilitating and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in the campus community.
• Possess demonstrated experience conducting quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-methods research.
• Experience with survey design, usability teaching, ethnographic methods, or other user research techniques.
• Experience teaching or mentoring undergraduate students.
• Effective written and oral communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.

Qualifications

• Current SUNY students, alumni, and/or Fellows preferred.
• From a low-income background (e.g., Pell-eligible as undergraduates), were first-generation college students (students whose parents have not earned a bachelor's degree), have overcome adversity, are AmeriCorps alumni, or are veterans.
