About the role

The PRODiG+ Post-doctoral Fellow position in the Center for Criminal Justice Studies at Farmingdale State College is designed to (1) increase the number and share of excellent diverse faculty committed to advancing the ideals of diversity, equity, and inclusion; and (2) strengthen the pipeline for retention and support of these candidates. The fellowship provides a mentored experience within the academic area of Criminal Justice.

Responsibilities

- Teach a combination of lower division and/or upper division courses in the areas of criminal justice technologies (e.g., Artificial Intelligence (AI), crime/intelligence analysis, crime mapping, forensic/crime scene). - Engage in scholarly research and apply for relevant grants. - Participate in departmental committee work, student advisement, and/or curriculum development.

Requirements

- Eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship. - Hold a PhD or Terminal Degree in a field related to Criminal Justice from an accredited institution. - Demonstrate personal, academic, and/or work experience engaging with diversity, equity, and inclusion. - Possess excellent written and oral communications skills. - Preference will be given to candidates who are: Current SUNY students, alumni, and/or Fellows from a low-income background, were first-generation college students, have overcome adversity, are AmeriCorps alumni, or are veterans. Specialized in the area of technology use and application within the criminal justice domain (specifically Artificial Intelligence (AI), crime/intelligence analysis, crime mapping, forensic/crime scene, and/or related technologies).

Qualifications

- Minimum qualifications include being eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship, having a PhD or Terminal Degree in a field related to Criminal Justice from an accredited institution, and demonstrating personal, academic, and/or work experience engaging with diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Skills

- Strong written and oral communications skills. - Ability to relate to and work with students in various aspects of their academic pursuits. - Experience in the area of technology use and application within the criminal justice domain (specifically Artificial Intelligence (AI), crime/intelligence analysis, crime mapping, forensic/crime scene, and/or related technologies).

Total Compensation: $69,000

Schedule

12-month Temporary position. Anticipated Start Date: Fall Semester 2026
