PROD PLNG AND SCHEDULER 2 (RI)

The Role

The primary focus area will be Planning and Production Control for the Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) dept. X83 onsite office at Electric Boat’s Quonset Point, Rhode Island manufacturing facility. This position coordinates Planning and Module shipment efforts for COLUMBIA & Virginia Class Submarines.

Primary responsibility is to support and provide quick response to tasks related to module construction/transfer. As a NNS Planning and Production Control Module Shipment Completion representative, this position is responsible for work completion/compliance in accordance with NNS Module Shipout Procedures.

Responsibilities

• Plans, prepares, issues and controls production schedules and coordinates with material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production requirements.
• Advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials and services are provided as needed.
• Schedules equipment and personnel, confirms material supply and demands, prepares work orders or purchase requests for the production or purchase of components or parts based on a master production schedule, shop load and inventory requirements.
• Covers interdepartmental activity with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, inventory control, traffic, etc.; schedules and expedites the movement of parts by means of move orders, stock transfers and requests for shipping orders.
• Provides quality assurance support (ship checks, data, and critiques) and test support (TIRs, TFs, data compilation/transfer, procedure alignments and improvements via revisions).

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 1 years of relevant professional experience
• One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:
• NNS Apprentice School graduate
• Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
• Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
• Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
• High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
• High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience

Nice to Have

• Exposure to network scheduling techniques is highly preferred.

Qualifications

• A candidate should possess a well-rounded knowledge of Company operations, production processes, shop processes, ship systems, network scheduling techniques, and planning methods.
• The individual will be required to work closely with the Program Office, NNS Planning and Production Control, Construction, and the Shipboard Trades.
• Good communication and teamwork skills are required.
• Incumbent will utilize Microsoft Office Products, SAP, Artemis, and Teamcenter/NX.
