Procurement Sr. Specialist (Sr. Buyer Supply Chain)

About the role

Negotiates favorable terms, volume discounts, and long-term contracts with suppliers. Prepares and processes requisitions and purchase orders for the procurement of goods, services, and supplies for customer-related business processes or internal use as a generalist or in a combination of purchasing disciplines.

Requires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in procurement and basic knowledge of related disciplines. Solves complex problems with minimal guidance, may lead projects or project steps, and acts as a resource for colleagues. Consistent exercise of discretion and judgment is expected.

Responsibilities

• Develops and executes sourcing strategy, evaluates product offerings, recommends suppliers, and negotiates contracts for assigned categories or departments.
• Gathers business requirements and identifies and pre-qualifies potential suppliers.
• Develops and distributes RFPs/RFQs and collects bids or other information.
• Evaluates proposals/quotes based on quality, cost, or other criteria and recommends suppliers best suited to meet organizational requirements.
• Works with selected suppliers to develop mutually acceptable contractual agreements.
• May oversee tactical purchasing operations, such as issuance of purchase orders or payment of invoices.
• Ensures all procurement activities comply with internal policies and external regulations.
• Applies knowledge of cost accounting standards, contract administration principles, and cost/price analysis techniques across varying contract types.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree and 5-7 years of relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work as part of a team, make decisions, and meet deadlines.
• Strong oral and written communication, analytical thinking, and detail-oriented skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field.
• Experience with IFS software.
• Experience in a DoD manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of FAR / DFARS / CPSR requirements.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods.
• Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.

Travel Requirements

Up to 25% travel likely.
