About the role
Gilchrist Forest Products LLC is seeking a full-time Procurement Forester to join their team in Gilchrist, Oregon.
Responsibilities
- Accurately appraise and purchase timber that maximizes the highest margins for the company from various sources including private lands, open market wood, ODF, USFS, and BLM lands.
- Analyze timber quality and quantity and projected delivered cost data from different resource areas to develop purchasing strategies.
- Maintain long-term relationships with key business partners and communicate effectively.
- Keep updated records of timber sale results, volume under contract, and track market conditions.
- Communicate company views, beliefs, and professionalism on forestry issues through positive communication with landowners, contractors, government agencies, and the general public.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in log buying in the Pacific Northwest.
- A Bachelor's degree in Forest Management or a related field.
