About the role
The Procurement Engineer will be responsible for early involvement in the product development/manufacturing process, monitoring current products to minimize costs, and collaborating with R&D engineers and commodity managers.
Responsibilities
- Early Procurement Involvement: Engage in preliminary development, push forward cost reduction measures, and represent strategic procurement in R&D project meetings.
- Early Supplier Integration: Include suppliers, conduct cost-benefit analysis workshops, and optimize material cost through DtC.
- Analysis: Initiate market observation, provide market information/analyses, and introduce and follow up given cross-functional Procurement strategies.
- Alignment of Technology Roadmaps: Support activities planned by the lines of business to harmonize and implement technological line-of-business strategies with procurement strategies.
- Strategy Deployment: Drive sourcing decisions with interface partners to incorporate technological knowhow and safeguard security strategies.
- Supplier Management: Technology assess and develop suppliers from the technological standpoint, coordinate product/service qualifications and approvals, and participate in sourcing strategy development.
- Business Support: Provide support for projects in lines of business, participate in workshops, and realize potential for savings in the project.
Requirements
- Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, 5+ years of experience in procurement and supply chain management, 3+ years of industry experience within a Mechanical / Electrical / Electronic component manufacturing business.
- Preferred Qualifications: Project management knowledge and execution leadership experience, professional certifications such as Supply Chain Management, Project Management, excellent analytical skills, good communication and networking skills, self-determined and goal-oriented personality, ownership, interpersonal skills, presentation skills, proactive and team player with the drive to implement changes.
