Procurement Category Manager
About the role
This Procurement Category Manager will be responsible for the strategic sourcing of services for Marketing, Human Resources, Consulting, and Finance categories in the Americas with some projects/categories around the world. This sourcing professional will also have exposure to work with the global team for global category project execution.
Responsibilities
- Manage large projects or processes with limited oversight from manager.
- Coach, review, and delegate work to lower-level professionals.
- Strategic sourcing of indirect and direct goods/services, including:
- Indirect Operations (e.g., Office Supplies, Computers, Travel, Maintenance, Machine Parts)
- Direct Operations (e.g., Raw Materials and Services for Manufacturing, Production, or Construction; Products for Retail)
- Lead procurement processes:
- Product/Service Sourcing
- Supplier Selection
- Pricing/Terms Negotiation
- Order Processing
- Contract Administration
- Supplier Performance Management
- Strategic Sourcing (as applicable)
- Analyze complex procurement scenarios and align negotiation strategies with long-term business goals.
- Develop and execute sourcing projects, reverse auctions, and initiatives ensuring alignment with Hitachi Digital’s priorities and business objectives.
- Negotiate high-value, complex service contracts generating significant savings and non-monetary benefits.
- Structure contracts to optimize cost, mitigate risk, maximize cash flow, and ensure performance and compliance.
- Evaluate financial implications, total cost of ownership (TCO), and ROI of solutions using procurement analytics.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and assess vendor risk.
- Enforce post-contract management practices, monitor vendor performance, and manage vendor scorecards, SLAs, and escalation processes.
- Develop and maintain a best-in-class global preferred supply base for the assigned area of responsibility.
- Foster long-term partnerships with strategic vendors.
- Communicate and influence stakeholders at all levels, including IT Executives and Senior Leaders, to adopt procurement best practices.
- Navigate high-stakes discussions with strong emotional intelligence and build trust.
- Uphold ethical sourcing and compliance with data privacy, security, and regulatory standards.
Requirements
- 4 years of experience in Procurement sourcing and category management.
- Understanding of basic procurement law with the ability to negotiate/oversee:
- Master supply agreements
- Professional services agreements
- Statements of work
- Change requests
- Amendments
- Experience in some of the following Procurement categories: Marketing, Human Resources, Professional Services, and Financial Services.
- Demonstrated track record of leading the sourcing process, working with stakeholders across businesses and geographies.
- Proven ability to communicate, influence, and build relationships at all organizational levels.
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to independently handle large-volume, high-risk deals.
- Strong supplier management skills.
- Experience working in an eSourcing tool environment (a plus).
- Able to navigate a fast-paced, multinational environment and foster excellent working relationships.
- Well-organized, confident in managing stakeholder demands, and a natural self-starter with a willingness to learn and embrace new methodologies.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and interpersonal skills.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
