Procurement Buyer

About the role

This is a day shift position located in Colorado Springs, CO. Hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

Responsibilities

• Quote and place purchase orders for custom tooling, equipment, hardware, and other miscellaneous items through global vendors.
• Communicate with vendors to ensure on-time delivery of components; provide updates to the engineering team regarding delays or vendor questions.
• Compile print packages with PDFs and solid models to send to vendors for quoting.
• Review purchasing agreements with vendors to ensure terms meet Samtec requirements.
• Ensure equipment is set up correctly in Samtec asset management systems.
• Onboard new equipment through the Samtec tooling qualification process.
• Coordinate shipping and crating for tooling and equipment.
• Ensure proper documentation of assets during equipment transfers.

Requirements

• 2–5 years of experience in a similar purchasing role within a highly technical industry.
• Professional knowledge of computer software, including Microsoft Office.
• Ability to quickly learn job-specific software packages.
• Experience procuring technical components and industrial equipment.
• Understanding of terms and conditions in purchasing agreements.
• Mechanical print reading skills.
• Excellent organizational, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on timely handling of requests.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Qualifications

• Project management training or experience is a plus.
• Strong math skills preferred.
• SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM or other CAD software knowledge is beneficial for compiling drawing packages.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and experience procuring from machine shops is preferred.

Pay

$24.00 – $28.00 per hour plus applicable bonus, commensurate with experience.
