Key Responsibilities
- Create, issue, and track purchase orders for raw materials, components, and indirect supplies based on MRP/ERP-generated requirements
- Maintain accurate purchasing records, including pricing, lead times, and vendor information within the ERP system
- Assist in resolving discrepancies related to pricing, quantities, receiving, and invoicing (working with Accounts Payable and Receiving)
- Support supplier communication regarding quality issues, delivery schedules, and order changes
- Help track and report on key metrics such as on-time delivery, order accuracy, and inventory levels
- Absorb and assist with supplier evaluations, quotes, and sourcing activities for new or alternate materials
- Collaborate with Planning, Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to align purchasing activity with production schedules
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, lead time reduction, and process improvement
- Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 0–2 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, planning, or a related supply chain function
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Preferred Experience
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., Epicor, SAP, Oracle, or similar)
- Familiarity with manufacturing, industrial, or electrical/cable component supply chains
- Basic understanding of procurement principles (POs, lead times, MOQs, incoterms)
- APICS/ASCM coursework or certification (or interest in pursuing one)
