Processing Operator Trainee

About the role

The Processing Operator Trainee operates and adjusts all process equipment for smooth and productive operations; monitors lineflow and waste; corrects problems which affect quality and production costs; and makes line changes as directed by the production lead or team leader.

Responsibilities

• Maintains safe work practices at all times and participates in safety programs.
• Changes water knives as needed.
• Performs waste evaluations and changes grader screens as needed.
• Operates equipment and makes adjustments as needed.
• Maintains even lineflow.
• Maintains product quality and attributes.
• Communicates with other personnel: line status, quality, and other problems.
• Understands function and hazards of various cleaning chemicals and performs various product testing procedures.
• Able to work independently.
• Shovels product spills.
• Completes production forms as required.
• Enters checks into computer.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Lock-out/Tag-out, Forklift, and Sanitation certification are required. Training may be provided if not qualified.
• Effectively communicate in English verbally and in writing. Ability to understand instructions and follow directions in English, both written and oral.
• Experience driving forklift in warehouse or manufacturing establishment preferred.
• Must be able to be qualified within time frames established by facility.
• Able to perform basic math functions.
• To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer operation knowledge, data entry skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.

Physical Environment/Demands

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently.
• Exposed to a noisy environment that varies from hot to cold in temperature.
• Exposure to manufacturing environments for up to 8 hours per work day, including: loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, slippery conditions, dirt, fumes, smoke, smells, and allergies.
• Ability to do repetitive arm, wrist, and hand movements required for job actions and procedures.
• Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties.
• Must be able to operate work-related equipment.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Exposed to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Freezer Operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Plant Operation.
• May have to sample food while evaluating Lamb Weston products.
• Climbing to various heights via stairs or ladders on a regular basis.
