Process Tech, Extrusion

Safety

• Follows plant safety procedures and guidelines
• Knows emergency procedures and what to do in the event of power outages, machine failures, workplace injuries, etc.
• Wears and utilizes personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
• Understands and identifies Lock-out/Tag-out procedures
• Informs Supervisor of safety issues; reports any workplace injury or incident immediately

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Supports the Extrusion department with process troubleshooting
• Develops the skill sets of the Team Leads and Operators
• Improves training procedures
• Helps with continuous improvement projects focused on scrap and downtime
• Troubleshoots daily process issues in Extrusion
• Overhauls Extruders and equipment as required by schedule and process to conform to quality standards
• Trains and supports production for production changeover
• Conducts and assists in testing for new materials and/or processes
• Improves the overall skill set of the Team Leads and Operators in Extrusion-Repro-Compound through detailed training
• Participates/leads in Continuous Improvement Events/Teams in Extrusion with a focus on improving quality/output and reducing scrap and downtime
• Advices/leads line/equipment maintenance and improvement including process/operation improvement

Qualifications

• Willingness to work and follow verbal/written instructions
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English
• High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)

• Frequent exposure to extreme heat
• Moving mechanical parts
• Products with sharp edges
• Noise level in the work environment is usually loud
