Process Specialist

PGI is a privately held company established in 1996, specializing in private label solutions for the automotive industry. We design, manufacture, and distribute products for automotive, diesel, power-sports, and specialty filter markets, with a supply chain network spanning the Pacific and South America.

About the role

Set up, adjust, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, change over, schedule, and operate all process equipment within an assigned area. Maintain equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation while providing guidance and support to team members to meet production goals within safety, quality, and scrap standards. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret production requirements from electronic or paper documentation.
• Transport production and maintenance supplies, including tooling, using floor jacks, carts, or manual methods.
• Visually inspect equipment, supplies, and tooling; perform safety checks and correct defects before use.
• Set up, adjust, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment to produce quality parts at acceptable rates.
• Operate maintenance-related equipment such as powered hand tools, grinders, drill presses, and cutoff saws.
• Perform basic electrical maintenance, including using a VOM meter, checking voltage, replacing fuses, and resetting motor overloads.
• Start and monitor process equipment, making adjustments to ensure conformance to order specifications; may have primary responsibility for assigned equipment.
• Inspect product dimensions using calipers, micrometers, fixed gauges, and other tools; read and interpret mechanical drawings, hydraulic drawings, equipment manuals, and electrical schematics.
• Record inspection results and maintain documentation of activities and historical maintenance records.
• Prepare and supply materials for storing products (e.g., boxes, skids) and remove finished products or returnable materials from the production area.
• Establish and maintain requirements for spare production supplies, such as tooling and machine parts, to ensure availability.
• Complete necessary paperwork, including scrap, transfer, production, and accept tickets, as well as daily logs.
• Organize changeovers to minimize downtime and work with team members to ensure proper tooling and equipment maintenance.
• Utilize preventive maintenance (PM), total productive maintenance (TPM), and predictive techniques to maintain equipment and tooling.
• Schedule and perform machine teardowns for repairs and modifications.
• Consult with equipment manufacturers and materials suppliers to resolve problems and implement solutions.
• Monitor work in progress and suggest or make improvements as needed.
• Communicate production issues to supervisors or team leaders and support problem resolution and continuous improvement.
• Promote teamwork and train team members on job operations and paperwork.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and debris-free work area through general housekeeping tasks.
• Follow all safety procedures and safe work practices.
