About the role
QCELLS America is seeking a Process Safety Management (PSM) Engineer to lead Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Program (RMP) activities at our Cartersville, GA facility. This position involves facilitation, technical hands-on work, and continuous improvement, with the opportunity to participate in a new plant design, build, and start-up.
Responsibilities
- Recognize, evaluate, and control process hazards.
- Lead the development, implementation, review, and sustainability of site policies and technical guidelines for PSM and RMP elements (e.g., Process Hazard Analysis, Management of Change, Contractor Management, Process Safety Information).
- Develop and implement an audit schedule covering all PSM elements and lead/conduct audits as required.
- Lead/participate in incident investigations to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Develop, implement, and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Program (RMP) in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical expertise in PSM and RMP, consulting on regulatory compliance, hazard management, behavioral modification, and auditing programs.
- Lead process hazard analysis (PHA) and facilitate root cause analysis for incidents.
- Quantify and assess risks associated with identified hazards using risk assessment tools and methodologies.
- Develop guidance and assist in implementing the Emergency Response Plan for facilities as it relates to RMP/PSM.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or Environmental Health and Safety (EHS).
- 3+ years of experience with OSHA-PSM and EPA-RMP requirements for highly hazardous chemicals.
- Experience facilitating process hazard analyses (PHAs) (e.g., HAZOP/LOPA/SIL) for major hazard, multi-discipline projects/studies.
- Experience leading a Process Safety Management (PSM - 29 CFR 1910.119) and a Risk Management Program (RMP - 40 CFR Part 68).
- Experience conducting and facilitating hazard analysis techniques such as Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOP), What-If Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), including dispersion studies.
Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Fluency in English (oral and written).
- Strong technical writing skills.
- Presentation and/or training experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
