About the Role

The Associate Process Metallurgist will assist with supporting sales, production, and other organizational units in determining the organization’s capacity to produce products that meet defined customer requirements. You will consult with sales, operations, and customers to review product specifications or production problems and provide recommendations. This role involves providing metallurgical and technical expertise to achieve customer specifications or resolve product-related issues.

Responsibilities

• Work with sales, lab, and layout functions to prepare bid proposals.
• Provide technical guidance on materials, procedures, quality, and economy to determine Ulbrich’s ability to meet customer product requirements.
• Assist in developing detailed product order requirements based on defined specifications.
• Review and establish material processing and recommend cost-effective procedures for order processing.
• Assist in selecting raw materials, considering physical and chemical properties required for the end result.
• Help design production practices and procedures to meet special customer requirements.
• Monitor production capacity, processing, and other factors that may affect delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Material Science or Metallurgy is required.
• 3+ years of experience in the metals industry preferred.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively on cross-functional initiatives.
• Strong understanding of materials, engineering theory, and principles of design.
• Demonstrated conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proven experience leading projects independently and organizing project teams.
• Ability to multitask and work hands-on to achieve project goals.
