About the role
A Heavy Equipment Operator – Organics processes green waste and other organic material by using loaders and various sorting, grinding, and screening equipment to produce high-quality compost and mulch.
Responsibilities
- Maintain safe operating conditions of equipment and area at all times.
- Perform pre- and post-trip inspection of all equipment operated daily.
- Work with peers as a team to complete major tasks successfully.
- Perform material grading and properly process material to create final product.
- Immediately report any unsafe equipment or actions to direct supervision.
- Work overtime as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by direct supervision.
Requirements
- High School Diploma and/or GED.
- Ability to read and understand safety rules, operating manuals, and maintenance instructions for equipment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills.
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual – English/Spanish.
- Class A or B commercial driver’s license.
- Acceptable driving record.

- Standing, walking, sitting, seeing, hearing, touching, stooping, lifting, and smelling continuously.

- Eye/hand coordination, visual depth perception, handling, and wrist motion continuously.
Environmental
- Exposure to dust, smoke, fumes, odors, grease, oil, chemicals, wet/hot conditions, windy conditions, and noise continuously.
- Exposure to flying debris and sharp objects occasionally.
- Works outside only.
Pay
$26.05 - $29.49 per hour.
