Process Equipment Operator

About the role

A Heavy Equipment Operator – Organics processes green waste and other organic material by using loaders and various sorting, grinding, and screening equipment to produce high-quality compost and mulch.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe operating conditions of equipment and area at all times.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspection of all equipment operated daily.
• Work with peers as a team to complete major tasks successfully.
• Perform material grading and properly process material to create final product.
• Immediately report any unsafe equipment or actions to direct supervision.
• Work overtime as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by direct supervision.

Requirements

• High School Diploma and/or GED.
• Ability to read and understand safety rules, operating manuals, and maintenance instructions for equipment.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Exceptional organizational skills.
• Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual – English/Spanish.
• Class A or B commercial driver’s license.
• Acceptable driving record.

• Standing, walking, sitting, seeing, hearing, touching, stooping, lifting, and smelling continuously.
• Problem-solving, oral/written communication, analytical ability, concentration, and interpersonal abilities continuously.
• Eye/hand coordination, visual depth perception, handling, and wrist motion continuously.

Environmental

• Exposure to dust, smoke, fumes, odors, grease, oil, chemicals, wet/hot conditions, windy conditions, and noise continuously.
• Exposure to flying debris and sharp objects occasionally.
• Works outside only.

Pay

$26.05 - $29.49 per hour.
