Process Engineering Technician

About the role

Reporting to the Business Unit Manager, the Process Engineering Technician provides support to process engineers and departments to ensure production goals and productivity improvements are met. This role supports the Vertical Launch Systems department by providing technical and administrative aid, including data collection, data entry, and filing. As a key resource, the Process Engineering Technician helps review existing and new manufacturing equipment and processes, promotes a safe work environment, and drives process improvements related to safety, environmental, and ergonomic concerns. You will cultivate a strong culture by participating in High Performance Teams and operating in a LEAN manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide cost reduction and productivity improvements through support of continuous improvement (value stream) projects, including validating and improving process capabilities, new part, and ECO approvals.
• Perform A3 root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Conduct PPAP activities (e.g., P-Maps, Controls, FMEA reviews, and updates).
• Communicate between departments to assist leaders and engineers in troubleshooting and resolving production floor process issues through documentation review.
• Complete documentation accurately and on time, including reviewing, revising, and drafting standard operating procedures, work instructions, process documents, and batch cards.
• Work cross-functionally to train operators, supervisors, and other employees on new equipment and processes.
• Support company LEAN and High-Performance team objectives and initiatives, including participation in Starpoint teams and reporting cost-related data in daily meetings.
• Use appropriate PPE for designated areas across the site, including the manufacturing floor.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Resident Status required.
• GED or High School Diploma required; Associate degree or higher in a technical discipline preferred.
• 3+ years of manufacturing or related experience required, preferably in a quality capacity.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing and problem-solving tools (e.g., fishbone, 5 Whys); Six Sigma Green Belt a plus.
• Proficiency in math, reading, writing, and computer skills, including multiplication, statistics, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Technical writing experience (SOPs, work instructions, safety documents) a plus.
• Ability to work independently and within a team to meet time-sensitive deadlines.
• Must demonstrate effective verbal and written English communication skills.
• Strong analytical, decision-making, and organizational skills required.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 lbs.
• Comfortable with exposure to chemicals in designated workflow areas.
