About the role

Veolia Group is a global leader in environmental services with nearly 218,000 employees, specializing in water, energy, and waste management. Within Veolia's Water Technology Business, the Process Engineering team supports the sale, engineering, commissioning, and operation of complete system solutions for North American customers. The Process Engineering Project Technical Leader - Microelectronics acts as both a technical expert and project lead, owning the overall treatment solution for ultrapure water, wastewater, and reclaim treatment projects in the microelectronics market, coordinating a team of Process Engineers, managing deliverables, schedules, and cross‑functional representation, and serving as the primary technical contact with customers and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the process design of ultrapure, wastewater, and reclaim treatment solutions for the microelectronics industry.
  • Align a team of Process Engineers working on a flow sheet to a strategy (influent design basis, safety factors, flow variations, customer needs, competitive positioning), define deliverables and schedule, and ensure quality and schedule compliance.
  • Lead the design of complete water, wastewater, or waste treatment solutions (flow sheet, unit processes, process parameters) using in‑house and industry tools, acting as the technical leader for a team of Process Engineers.
  • Apply advanced treatment technologies including biological treatment, ammonia removal, solids separation, low‑ and high‑pressure membrane treatment (ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, reverse osmosis – conventional and high‑pH), ion exchange, UV treatment, and gas‑transfer membrane processes to meet microelectronics‑industry requirements.
  • Own the overall Process Flow Diagram (PFD), associated flow tables or mass balance, and overall process guarantees, managing interconnections between unit processes and upstream/downstream impacts.
  • Engage in piloting, benchmarking, and treatability studies as part of design, commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of UPW treatment solutions.
  • Serve as the lead technical contact with customers, building partnership relationships and representing the Process Engineering team.
  • Serve as the lead technical contact with other functions on the project.
  • Identify and support management of technical risks related to the treatment process, compiling risks across the flow sheet in collaboration with Process Engineers.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues using data and observations.
  • Understand relevant regulations and liaise with regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Own and be accountable for the success of assigned projects, achieving treatment requirements and customer satisfaction through proactive communication, collaboration, and corrective‑action management.
  • Demonstrate Veolia’s expertise in the external market through customer and conference presentations.
  • Provide training and 1:1 coaching to members of the Process Engineering team.

Requirements

Bachelor or advanced degree in an Engineering field – Environmental, Chemical, or Mechanical preferred, or other technical discipline with a combination of process design and hands‑on microelectronics water and wastewater treatment system experience.

10+ years of related experience, preferably process engineering specific, with an emphasis in process design and/or operation of water, wastewater or waste treatment.

Demonstrated experience with UPW, wastewater, and reclaim treatment processes and system design/operation for the microelectronics industry.

Leadership experience or demonstrated leadership competency to connect people, set and communicate a vision, align and inspire a team towards an objective, train/coach/mentor others, and make effective decisions with limited information under evolving conditions.

Qualifications

  • Ability to design complete integrated water, wastewater, or waste treatment solutions, including preliminary design of associated tanks, rotating equipment, piping, instrumentation, and controls.
  • Ability to integrate multiple main unit operations (e.g., clarifier, MBR, RO, thermal) into a single flow sheet with consideration of recycle streams, flow variations, and a range of influent qualities.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Exceptionally strong oral and written communication skills in English for customer‑facing communication (including presentations) as well as internal collaboration and influence.
  • Proactive organization and time management.
  • Excellent computer skills (i.e., Excel, Word and PowerPoint and Google Suite analogues).
  • Ability to exercise good judgement under changing conditions.
  • Critical and creative thinking, and ability to evaluate among numerous options.
  • Data analysis.
