About the Role
Process engineering ensures the consistency of actions and initiatives related to process control development, continuous improvement, and optimization breakthroughs. This role drives process improvement activities to reduce manufacturing variance and enhance competitiveness while participating in industrial benchmark activities.
The Process Engineering Manager defines and optimizes process parameters to produce at the best cost, validates and records process changes (material, tooling, and machine), and coaches the production department to improve process capability and reduce production costs. This role serves as the primary liaison between CC2 and the Charleston site.
Responsibilities
- Tendering: Provide tender production costs for the factory, including relevant investments, and maintain up-to-date plant factory cost standards.
- Safety, Quality, Environment, and Compliance: Apply and motivate staff to follow instructions, procedures, and regulations related to safety, quality, environment, and work regulations.
- Process Definition: Define and optimize manufacturing process parameters and validate and record any changes to these parameters.
- Process Engineering Coordination: Coordinate the drafting, validation, and dissemination of manufacturing and self-control procedures.
- Production Standards: Define and improve production standards data.
- Continuous Improvement: Promote and organize continuous improvement using proven methods (5W, 8D, etc.) and participate in group benchmarks.
- Service Organization: Ensure necessary expertise and versatility within the team.
- Employee Management: Lead, train, coach, and monitor direct reports.
- Technical Feasibility: Update technical information for design offices to determine the feasibility of proposed cables.
- Alert System: Drive the alert system for critical issues, including AMS, ensure actions are implemented, and integrate lessons learned.
- Skills and Competences: Ensure the organization has the right skills and competences and develop plans for each member of the plant technical organization.
Expected Results
- Guarantee compliance with rules to reduce work accidents and environmental impact.
- Achieve positive results in internal/external audits and improve environmental indicators (energy saving, waste reduction, and sorting).
- Respond to specifications ensuring safety, quality, and productivity.
- Monitor and address production deviations.
- Track the competitiveness plan (SMP) and implement actions to meet objectives.
- Meet process engineering, materials, and processes requirements within the approved budget.
- Ensure timely completion and positive audit results (ISO 9001 and 14001).
- Realize budget targets.
- Maintain a competent and motivated team to achieve site objectives.
- Manufacture cables within quality and calculated manufacturing costs.
- Determine and resolve the causes of non-conformities (NC) and reduce internal NC due to raw material production discrepancies.
Requirements
- Industrial Engineer Degree or a minimum of 5-7 years of industrial manufacturing experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing sector, process engineering, or quality function.
- Strong interpersonal skills with effective upward and downward communication.
- Leadership skills including coaching, influencing, motivating, and team leadership.
- Business acumen with an understanding of Industrial KPIs.
- Excellent communication skills (interpersonal, listening, oral, presentation, questioning, reading comprehension, written).
- Ability to understand and act according to intercultural differences.
- Results-driven mindset.
- Exposure to various materials, processes, and corresponding tools & methods.
- Experience with preventive and analysis tools: 8D, Ishikawa, FMEA, SPC.
- 5-10 years of technical/engineering/industrial experience in the cable industry.
- Fluent in English.
