Process Engineer Team Lead
Job Scope
The Process Engineering Team Lead is responsible for leading process engineering initiatives that support safe, efficient, and reliable manufacturing operations. This role combines hands-on process engineering responsibilities with leadership of a small team of Process/Production Engineers. The incumbent will drive continuous improvement efforts, optimize production processes, support new product introductions, enhance operational reliability, and ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and corporate standards.
Qualifications
Education Required: Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering (B.S. Chemical Engineering).
Experience Required: 5+ years of experience in process engineering and/or production engineering within a chemical manufacturing environment. Experience supporting manufacturing operations and process optimization initiatives. Experience conducting root cause analyses and implementing corrective actions.
Skills And Knowledge: Strong leadership skills with the ability to take ownership and drive results. Excellent problem-solving and analytical capabilities. Ability to organize and analyze complex technical data to support decision-making. Strong root cause analysis and troubleshooting skills. Working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and process performance monitoring. Strong project management and project implementation experience. Business acumen with the ability to justify projects through financial and operational analysis. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority. Strong technical writing and presentation skills. Demonstrated commitment to Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) excellence. Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM), OSHA, and EPA regulations. Strong customer focus and cross-functional collaboration skills. Ability to manage priorities in a dynamic manufacturing environment. Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, and continuous improvement mindset. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and standard engineering software tools.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous supervisory or team leadership experience in a manufacturing facility.
Experience with OEE programs, Lean Manufacturing, and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
Lean Manufacturing certification and/or Six Sigma training or certification.
Experience with SAP, LIMS, PI Systems, and industrial process control systems.
Experience supporting automation initiatives such as SIS, alarm management, and batch systems.
Experience leading Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), Management of Change (MOC), and PSSR activities.
Experience with capital project execution and ROI development.
Knowledge of environmental compliance and regulatory reporting requirements.
Experience working with thermal oxidizers, refrigeration systems, or similar industrial utilities.
