We are looking for a Process Engineer – Packaging Operations to join our team in Pioneer, Ohio.

Responsibilities

  • Optimize Packaging Processes
  • Partner closely with operations and production teams to improve packaging line performance.
  • Analyze line performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions that increase throughput and reduce costs.
  • Develop and maintain standard work, improve line balancing, reduce changeover time, and identify ergonomic improvements.
  • Lead waste reduction efforts focused on materials, labor, downtime, scrap, and rework.
  • Apply Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to eliminate inefficiencies and improve process capability.
  • Lead equipment & automation improvements
  • Promote safe and effective operator interaction with packaging equipment and automation.
  • Lead equipment and automation improvement projects, including vendor selection, design reviews, installation, commissioning, and ROI validation.
  • Develop and maintain equipment specifications, acceptance criteria, and technical documentation.
  • Partner with maintenance to troubleshoot chronic equipment issues and improve preventative maintenance strategies.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement
  • Use structured problem-solving tools such as 5-Why, Fishbone, and DMAIC to identify and eliminate root causes.
  • Collaborate with operators, team leads, maintenance, quality, and engineering to develop sustainable solutions.
  • Lead projects that improve safety, throughput, labor efficiency, quality, reliability, and overall packaging performance.
  • Help standardize successful improvements across packaging operations.
  • Create standard work, job aids, troubleshooting guides, and training materials.
  • Train operators and team leads on new processes, methods, and equipment.
  • Support onboarding and ongoing skill development for packaging team members.
  • Build strong partnerships across production, engineering, maintenance, quality, and external vendors.

Requirements

  • Experience & Education
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, process engineering, packaging operations, or a related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.

Skills & Competencies

  • Working knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma principles; Green or Black Belt certification preferred.
  • Experience with automation, equipment integration, and process improvement.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software; SolidWorks preferred.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Experience managing capital, equipment, or automation projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Physical Requirements
