Process Engineer Intern

Mativ is a global leader in specialty materials headquartered in Alpharetta, Georgia. The Company offers a wide range of critical components and engineered solutions that connect, protect, and purify our world. We are actively pursuing interns with a Chemical Engineering background to complete a 10-plus week internship program at our Minneapolis Plant starting in May 2026. The internship will provide exposure to many aspects of operations including a multi‑functional team setting, real‑time production, process experience, and project work with specific deliverables and exposure to the plant leadership team. Interns will participate in plant and production line operations to learn the technical properties and quality issues of extrusion lines with resin‑based materials. Ideal candidates will possess high initiative and drive, with a curiosity to perpetually learn and improve our business. Key requirements include the ability to analyze information to find opportunities, effectively communicate, and work collaboratively in a team setting.

Responsibilities

• Design and carry out controlled experiments on extrusion lines to evaluate process variables.
• Collect, organize, and analyze manufacturing data to identify potential process improvements.
• Collaborate with Process Technicians and Engineers to document findings and recommend changes to operating conditions.
• Present results and recommendations to the department at the conclusion of the internship.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled and working toward a degree with a concentration in Chemistry or Engineering discipline.
• Completed a minimum of 1‑full year of course work; preference for individuals who have completed 2‑full years.
• Preference for a minimum 3.0 GPA in your academic field of study.
• Solid Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel.

Pay

Rate of pay ranges from $20/hour to $25/hour depending upon experience.
