Process Engineer I
About the role
The Process Engineer at Materion will focus on improving manufacturing processes to enhance machine reliability, product quality, reduce costs, and optimize asset usage. This role involves direct collaboration with operators, engineers, maintenance staff, quality control, management, and production planners to achieve these goals.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the manufacture of quality products through continuous improvement
- Implement and maintain process control systems and operating procedures
- Implement and maintain Statistical Process Control to ensure proper material processing and quality
- Support and lead project teams to achieve improvements in areas such as safety, quality, throughput, cost, research and development, and machine reliability
- Gain in-depth knowledge of processing equipment and provide primary support for equipment breakdowns to maintain product quality
- Maintain open communication with operators and create training documentation and standard operating procedures for processing lines
Requirements
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Materials, Metallurgical, Mechanical, Chemical, or related discipline)
- Minimum of 3 years process engineering experience preferred
- Export compliance eligibility required for access to U.S. controlled technology
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, Asylee, Refugee, or National of a non-prohibited country
- Ability to obtain an export license if required
Skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Knowledge of process control systems and statistical methods
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
