Our Process Engineering team includes Process Engineers, Automation Engineers, and two Process Engineering Co-ops each year (terms overlap May through August). The team collaborates with mechanical, electrical, industrial, and packaging engineering disciplines.

About the role

As a Process Engineering Co-op, you will support day-to-day operations, continuous improvement initiatives, and capital projects. Gain experience in equipment design, procurement, commissioning, validation, troubleshooting, and cross-functional collaboration within Promega.

This Co-op lasts roughly 8 months, starting either January 2027 or May 2027, with flexibility in start and end dates.

Responsibilities

  • Perform process equipment trials, either online or with prototype test systems.
  • Create designs and fabricate components for test fixturing and equipment improvements.
  • Assist with GMP documentation and tasks associated with engineering projects.
  • Investigate and analyze existing manufacturing processes for continuous improvement in reliability, cost, throughput, capability, efficiency, workflow, and resource utilization.
  • Identify equipment performance and process issues, resolve them, or propose timely recommendations to management.
  • Present updates at project team meetings and project work to a team of engineers.
  • Demonstrate inclusion through words and actions, ensuring a safe workspace.
  • Act with kindness, curiosity, and respect for others, incorporating Promega’s 6 Emotional & Social Intelligence (ESI) core principles.
  • Understand and comply with ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements applicable to our business.

Requirements

  • Sophomore standing or greater pursuing a BS in Chemical, Bioprocess (or equivalent specialty with a Bioprocess emphasis) Engineering.
  • Completion of an Introductory Chemical Engineering course by the start of the Co-op term.
  • Motivated with a desire to contribute to the team and eagerness to learn.
  • Excellent organization, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple and changing priorities.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous work or lab experience.
  • Prior engineering internship experience (a plus but not required).

Physical Demands

  • Ability to work in a lab environment with chemical and biological materials.
  • Ability to observe and inspect equipment and operations for proper function and compliance with safety and housekeeping standards.
  • Ability to work in a production environment around automated equipment.
  • Ability to use a computer and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to move objects up to 20 pounds.
